TWEKO designed and manufactured an RKFS-series spray and drying booth for oversized metal structures, with a working area of 17,000 × 6,000 × 3,500 mm. To accommodate the dimensions of the workpieces, the booth is equipped with a retractable ceiling that provides an opening for loading from above by an overhead crane. The system includes two sets of thermo-ventilation units, dry filtration systems for supply and exhaust air, and a control panel. The booth allows painting and subsequent drying at temperatures up to +60 °C to be carried out within the same working area.
About the Client
PE “AV-EKSIM” is a manufacturer of warehouse and loading/unloading equipment under the AUSBAU trademark. The company has been operating since 2005 and specializes in mobile loading ramps, stationary ramps and platforms, forklift attachments, and custom solutions for loading and unloading operations.
Project Objectives
The working area had to accommodate workpieces up to 17 metres long, with loading from above by an overhead crane without the need to move them through the main gates. The booth was required to provide efficient removal of paint overspray from the working area and multi-stage air filtration, while allowing both painting and drying to be carried out within the same working area without relocating the workpieces. Additional operational requirements included convenient controls, monitoring of key parameters, emergency status indication, and safe working conditions for operators in accordance with applicable standards.
Proposed Solution
In accordance with the customer’s requirements, TWEKO designed and manufactured an RKFS-series spray and drying booth with a working area of 17,000 × 6,000 × 3,500 mm. The booth consists of a metal frame clad with sandwich panels and is equipped with swing gates and a service door.
The key design feature is a retractable ceiling driven by a gear motor. It allows oversized metal structures to be loaded from above using an overhead crane, without passing through the main gates.
Air circulation is provided by two sets of thermo-ventilation units. The system includes two BVR-18 supply units and two BVR-18 exhaust units.
The filtration system includes pre-filtration and fine filtration of the supply air, as well as two-stage dry filtration of the exhaust air using cardboard labyrinth and fibreglass filters.
During painting, outside air passes through a pre-filter and is supplied by the fan through the heat exchanger and the ceiling fine filter into the working area. Air containing paint overspray is then filtered and exhausted through the side extraction ducts.
The automatic drying cycle consists of three stages: purge, drying, and cooling. During drying, air circulates through the heat exchanger and is returned to the working area. The maximum temperature in the booth is +60 °C.
The working area is illuminated by luminaires fitted with T8 LED lamps. The design includes ceiling, wall, and corner luminaires. Ceiling luminaires are installed at a 45° angle and form part of the booth structure.
The equipment is operated from an electrical control panel. The control system provides adjustment of operating parameters, a drying timer, an hour meter, variable-frequency fan control, and operating status indication for the main components.
Two-stage emergency temperature protection is provided to prevent overheating. At 90 °C, the heating system is switched off; at 115 °C, the booth is completely shut down.
