In 2012, Donetskstal PJSC, a leading metallurgical enterprise in Donetsk, approached TWEKO with a request to create a paint and drying booth for painting railway wagons. The TWEKO team designed, manufactured, and commissioned a pass-through booth (KFSP) with electric heating, measuring 32x6x6 m. The project was completed in September 2012, ensuring high-quality painting and resource efficiency.
About the Client
Donetskstal PJSC, located in Donetsk, is one of Ukraine’s leading metallurgical companies, specializing in steel production, rolled products, and engineering products. The enterprise actively develops its infrastructure, including a fleet of railway wagons for logistical needs. In 2012, TWEKO became a partner to create a paint and drying booth to ensure quality control and cost savings in wagon painting.
Project Objectives
The project aimed to create optimal conditions for painting and drying railway wagons at Donetskstal PJSC’s production facility. Key requirements included:
- A pass-through paint and drying booth for simultaneous painting of two freight wagons.
- An electric heating system for uniform heating and drying of coatings.
- Energy efficiency and powerful ventilation for removing paint fumes.
- Completion of the project within a tight timeline.

TWEKO’s Solution
TWEKO offered a customized solution, including:
- Pass-Through Paint and Drying Booth (KFSP), Model IKFS-250. The booth, with a working area of 31,280×5,970×6,000 mm, allows simultaneous painting of two freight wagons. It is equipped with four ventilation units (25,000 m³/h each), four heat exchangers with ceramic-metal heating elements (4×110 kW) for electric heating, and an activated carbon filtration system. The booth, constructed with 80 mm sandwich panels (basalt filler), includes two end sectional gates (4,000×4,500 mm) and three personnel doors. Lighting is provided by 32 overhead and 26 side fluorescent fixtures. Additionally, two mobile painter platforms (2,500×1,000×1,800 mm) and a fabric curtain for booth division were installed.
The package included a control panel with automation, featuring a pressure switch, temperature sensors, and a thermostat for controlling painting and drying processes.
Project Implementation
The request from Donetskstal PJSC was received in early 2012. TWEKO prepared a commercial proposal and contract. Booth manufacturing began, considering the workshop’s specifics and the need to integrate air ducts into a concrete foundation. Installation and commissioning were completed in September 2012, allowing the client to begin painting wagons with full quality control.

Results for the Client
- Efficient painting of two wagons simultaneously due to the booth’s 31,280×5,970×6,000 mm size.
- Energy efficiency with a consumption of 500 kW/h and electric heating.
- High quality control through an activated carbon filtration system and automated management.
- Cost savings on wagon procurement due to in-house painting production.

Conclusion
The project was successfully completed in September 2012, providing Donetskstal PJSC with a modern paint and drying booth for railway wagon production. TWEKO demonstrated its ability to create large-scale solutions for industrial needs.
Modern Solution for Painting Large-Scale Objects from TWEKO: IKFS Series Paint and Drying Booths
For painting large objects such as railway wagons, TWEKO offers IKFS series paint and drying booths, including the IKFS Diagonal model with diagonal airflow. These booths ensure an optimal microclimate for high-quality application and drying of paint coatings, thanks to powerful ventilation and an efficient filtration system. The IKFS Diagonal model creates uniform airflow, minimizing turbulence and guaranteeing perfect coating. The energy-efficient design reduces resource consumption, and the modular system allows installation without complex foundation preparation and easy relocation. The IKFS series, particularly IKFS Diagonal, is an ideal solution for industrial enterprises seeking high quality, cost savings, and operational reliability.
