For a Ukrainian metalworking enterprise, TWEKO delivered a project for a containerised blast room from the new KASO-C series. The working area measures 12,000 × 2,350 × 2,430 mm and is designed for preparing metal surfaces before the application of protective coatings. A key feature of the project is the compact arrangement of process equipment, using a 40-foot shipping container as the blast room enclosure. The equipment package has been manufactured and prepared for subsequent installation and commissioning.
TWEKO’s Solution
TWEKO designed and manufactured a complete equipment package for the new KASO-C series containerised blast room, featuring a working area of 12,000 × 2,350 × 2,430 mm.
The main difference from conventional KASO series blast rooms is the container-based design. Using a 40-foot shipping container as the working enclosure makes it possible to establish a dedicated abrasive blasting area without constructing a specialised production building.
This design also allows the blast room to be transported and relocated to another production site after the necessary preparation and installation work.
One of the key features of the system is its automated abrasive collection and recovery system. An electromechanical scraper floor, driven by a 1.1 kW motor, transports spent abrasive to the collection system. A vacuum recovery unit with a capacity of 4 t/h separates dust and foreign contaminants from the abrasive, allowing reusable material to be returned to the blasting process.
To remove airborne dust from the working area, the system incorporates a dust extraction and filtration unit with an airflow capacity of 7,600 m³/h and a 5.5 kW motor. The unit is equipped with cartridge filters and a compressed-air pulse-jet cleaning system.
Metal surfaces are treated using a BlastRazor Z-200RCS abrasive blasting machine with a 200-litre pressure vessel. For operator convenience, the interior is fitted with eight light fixtures, while the walls feature a protective lining designed to withstand abrasive impact.
The main systems are controlled from a central control panel, enabling equipment status monitoring and incorporating safety interlocks.
The KASO-C series therefore combines the functionality of a stationary blast room with the advantages of a container-based design — compact equipment arrangement and the ability to relocate the system between production sites.
