MOBILE PAINTING AND DRYING CHAMBER – «VERTYKAL» SCIENTIFIC AND PRODUCTION ASSOCIATION - Techservice WEKO LLC

The project was executed under contract No. 20 dated 22.06.2018 between Techservice VEKO and Partner GmbH LLC and Vertical NPO LLC. The painting and drying chamber was commissioned by November 2018 in Kharkiv, enabling the client to significantly enhance productivity and the quality of processing large-scale structures.

Start of Collaboration

Vertical NPO LLC, a Kharkiv-based scientific and production association founded in 2000, specializes in electrical equipment. The company designs, manufactures, supplies, and services power devices, electric drives, control stations, telemetry systems, and reactive power compensators. Vertical NPO invests in the professional development of its employees, fostering an environment for realizing their potential, which ensures high product quality.

In 2018, under contract No. 20 dated 22.06.2018, TWEKO implemented a project to supply and install a painting and drying chamber for Vertical NPO LLC. The collaboration, involving both TWEKO and Vertical NPO, focused on optimizing the production of large-scale metal structures in Kharkiv.

Design Features

The highly mobile MKF series painting and drying chamber from TWEKO, named “Vertical,” is designed for painting complex large-scale metal structures. It ensures high-quality coatings and reduces production times. Key design features:

  • Compactness and Space: When folded, the booth occupies just 1,850 mm in length, while when expanded, it provides a working area exceeding 15 × 5 × 5 m for comfortable handling of large items (TWEKO data).
  • Stationary Base: The supply-exhaust thermo-ventilation group (TVG) is mounted on a foundation base, ensuring stability and operational efficiency.
  • Protective Coating: A fire-resistant fabric with silicone coating is used, capable of withstanding high temperatures and mechanical stress.

According to TWEKO, this design reduced painting times from 2–3 days (with natural drying) to 8 hours (one night shift), confirming the high efficiency of the equipment for painting metal structures.

Chamber Operation

The project involved implementing two operating modes—“Painting” and “Drying”—requiring precise tuning of the ventilation system and process automation.

Operating Modes

  • Painting Mode: Air passes through the supply ventilation unit, is cleaned of dust via filters, heated in a heat exchanger, and delivered into the booth through a fine ceiling filter. Contaminated air with paint particles is filtered through a floor filter and expelled via the exhaust system. Constant pressure is maintained to ensure air quality inside the chamber.
  • Drying Mode: The chamber operates in recirculation mode with the addition of fresh air. The process is automated: the operator sets the temperature and drying time. The cycle includes purging (ventilation after painting) and drying (recirculation of heated air through the heat exchanger and filters). The timer starts only after the set temperature is reached.

Client Feedback

Vertical NPO LLC highly praised TWEKO’s work, confirming that the chamber meets the specified characteristics:

The assembly of the painting and drying chamber was carried out with high quality and meets the stated specifications. We have no complaints about its performance. Y.V. Lavrenchuk, Director of Vertical NPO LLC

Conclusion

The 2018 project for Vertical NPO LLC demonstrated TWEKO’s ability to create innovative painting and drying chambers for large-scale structures. The MKF series chamber became a key element in optimizing production, reducing painting times, and improving coating quality.
