In May 2025, OBRA CONSTRUCTION GROUP, a Lviv-based construction company, partnered with TWEKO to design an industrial paint booth for their production facility. The goal was to ensure ergonomic working conditions for painters and deliver consistent coating quality. The project stands out due to its innovative water curtain technology, which captures paint overspray effectively, and specialized capture lamellas that expand the workspace and enhance process efficiency.
About the Client
OBRA CONSTRUCTION GROUP, headquartered in Lviv, is a general contractor specializing in construction, engineering, and development services. The company undertakes diverse projects, including industrial and commercial facilities, as well as specialized zones for material processing. To meet the demands of their wooden products requiring high-quality water-based coatings, OBRA CONSTRUCTION GROUP collaborated with TWEKO to modernize their painting operations. The main objectives were to achieve consistent coating quality, provide a safe and ergonomic workspace, and integrate a modern industrial paint booth into their production processes.
Project Objectives
OBRA CONSTRUCTION GROUP tasked TWEKO with creating a state-of-the-art painting facility for wooden products. Key requirements included:
- Designing a spray booth optimized for water-based coatings;
- Ensuring safe and ergonomic conditions for painters;
- Efficiently capturing paint overspray to maintain a clean production facility;
- Seamlessly integrating the equipment into the facility’s layout, with consideration for the designated painting zone;
- Providing high-efficiency filtration through a water curtain to capture paint particles;
- Installing capture lamellas to expand the workspace;
- Prioritizing energy efficiency and operational safety.
The client provided detailed information on product types, planned output, and the facility layout with the designated painting zone. Based on this, TWEKO designed an exhaust spray booth from the AS Hydro series (model ASH-4), enhanced with capture lamellas to maximize the workspace.
TWEKO’s Solution
To meet the client’s needs, TWEKO developed and installed an industrial paint booth model KF.000.00.00-ENERGY (AS Hydro series, ASH-4), fully customized for OBRA CONSTRUCTION GROUP. Leveraging proven technology from the AS Hydro series, the spray booth ensures reliability, energy efficiency, and safety. The water curtain effectively captures paint overspray, maintaining a clean workspace and adhering to modern environmental standards. This solution delivers consistent coating quality for wooden products while providing an ergonomic working environment for painters.
Technical Specifications of ASH-4:
- Dimensions:
- Total length with fans: 9,566 mm
- Exhaust booth width: 4,339 mm
- Height: 2,386 mm
- Equipment:
- Galvanized steel structure (two exhaust sections with water curtain)
- Two ventilation units VC 14-46 №4 with spark-proof motors (AIR 112 MA6, 3 kW, 1,000 rpm), mounted on separate frames
- Two circulation pumps Pedrollo D 10 (380 V)
- Water curtain system with pressure regulation and double overflow
- Four PaintStop filter cartridges (up to 96.7% efficiency)
- Control panel with thermostat, hour meter, and status indicators
- Energy-efficient LED T8 lighting (2×18 W, 600 mm length)
- Structural Features:
- 45° angled capture lamellas (side and top) to expand the workspace and capture overspray efficiently
- Installed on a flat floor, no mounting pit required
- Positioned in the center of the facility, with power and water supplies connected from the side
- Air ducts routed upward through symmetrically placed fans on both sides
- Performance:
- Airflow: 13,000 m³/h
- Air velocity in the work zone: 0.25–0.40 m/s
- Circulating water volume: 800 L
- Water flow: 600 L/min
The ASH-4 spray booth ensures safe operation with spark-proof components (motors and lighting) and complies with GOST 12.2.003-91 and PUE standards. The water curtain and PaintStop filters minimize emissions, while the control panel simplifies operation. The project was delivered turnkey, including mounting frames, fans, pumps, and a water circulation system.
Project Implementation
OBRA CONSTRUCTION GROUP requested a solution from the AS Hydro series. After analyzing the facility layout and product specifications, TWEKO proposed a wood finishing spray booth KF.000.00.00-ENERGY (AS Hydro series, ASH-4), tailored for water-based coatings. The project was executed in several phases:
Phase 1: Technical Specification Approval
The client provided the facility layout, output targets, and product details. The booth’s central placement and the use of a water curtain for water-based coatings were finalized.
Phase 2: Design and Drafting
TWEKO’s specialists created visualizations and technical drawings. Capture lamellas at a 45° angle with a 2,500 mm top sheet were included to expand the workspace. Air duct placement, water supply points, and electrical connections were coordinated.
Phase 3: Manufacturing and Shipping
The spray booth was manufactured with all approved features, including the water curtain, capture lamellas, and mounting solutions. The client handled delivery and unloading.
Phase 4: Installation and Commissioning
Installation was completed on schedule. The spray booth was set up in the designated area, connected to power and water, and the fans, circulation pump, and control system (including nozzle pressure regulation) were configured.
Phase 5: Launch and Acceptance
After test operations, the spray booth was launched. The client confirmed compliance with specifications and received a 12-month warranty.
Results for the Client
- Stable microclimate with 13,000 m³/h ventilation and 0.25–0.40 m/s air velocity, ensuring uniform coating application.
