In late 2007, Dnipro Furniture Plant PJSC (DМК), located in Dnipro, approached TWEKO with a request to create a paint and drying booth for applying and drying paint coatings on furniture products. The TWEKO team designed, manufactured, and commissioned a booth model KP 05-5100 (serial no. 31) with diesel heating and vertical airflow. The project was completed in November 2008, ensuring high-quality painting and resource efficiency.
About the Client
Dnipro Furniture Plant PJSC (DМК) is an enterprise with over a century of history, tracing its origins to the early 20th century. Founded in 1902 as a small furniture workshop, the plant evolved from a craft operation to one of Ukraine’s leading furniture manufacturers. During the Soviet era, the enterprise underwent significant modernization and specialized in producing cabinet furniture for residential and public spaces.
Today, located in Dnipro, the plant produces cabinet and upholstered furniture for domestic and commercial use under the well-known KARTISSA brand. Its products are recognized for their classic design, high-quality materials, and the use of modern production technologies. In 2008, TWEKO became a partner in the plant’s painting section modernization project. Through this collaboration, advanced paint coating application technologies were implemented, ensuring consistently high product quality and improving production process efficiency.
Project Objectives
The project aimed to create optimal conditions for applying and drying paint coatings on furniture products at Dnipro Furniture Plant PJSC. Key requirements included:
- A paint and drying booth with vertical airflow for effective removal of paint fumes.
- A diesel heating system to maintain stable painting (18–25°C) and drying (50–70°C) temperatures.
- Adaptation of the equipment to the workshop conditions on the third floor with air exhaust through channels in the foundation base.
- Completion of the project within a tight timeline—by November 2008.
TWEKO’s Solution
TWEKO provided a customized solution that included:
- Paint and Drying Booth, Model KP 05-5100 (serial no. 31). The booth consists of two cabins: a painting cabin (5,090×4,000×2,500 mm) and a drying cabin (5,090×3,725×2,200 mm), constructed from 50 mm sandwich panels with fire-resistant filler and galvanized coating. It is equipped with a diesel heat generator for air heating (18–25°C for painting, 50–70°C for drying) and centrifugal fans with high efficiency (air exchange rate up to 200 times/hour). Lighting is provided by two rows of sealed fluorescent fixtures (4×40 W in the painting cabin, 2×40 W in the drying cabin). The filtration system includes ceiling and floor filters, as well as preliminary pocket-type filters. Air is exhausted through channels in the concrete foundation. A control panel with automation ensures monitoring of pressure, temperature, and operating modes.
Additionally, a transition with sealed gates was installed for moving products between cabins, along with metal frame platforms for placement on the third floor.
Project Implementation
Upon receiving the request from DМК, the TWEKO team promptly developed a technical solution, considering the client’s requirements and the specifics of equipment placement on the third floor of the workshop. A paint and drying booth model KP 05-5100 was proposed, with internal dimensions of the painting cabin at 5,090×4,000×2,500 mm and the drying cabin at 5,090×3,725×2,200 mm, optimized for applying paint coatings on furniture products.
Equipment manufacturing accounted for complex installation conditions: integration of air ducts into the concrete foundation for efficient exhaust of used air, ensuring an air exchange rate of up to 200 times per hour, and using 50 mm sandwich panels with galvanized coating.Installation and commissioning were carried out after the client completed foundation work and utility connections, adhering strictly to safety standards. During testing, TWEKO specialists identified opportunities for efficiency improvements. A 7.5 kW supply fan was installed, an additional row of floor grilles with filters was added (total filter material area of 22 m²), and the exhaust system was upgraded for optimal airflow distribution. At the client’s request, side exhaust filter frames were added to better capture paint particles, positively impacting coating quality. All work was performed with minimal disruption to the production process, demonstrating TWEKO’s flexibility and professionalism. The booth was successfully commissioned, and the implemented upgrades ensured consistently high painting and drying quality for furniture products, enhancing the plant’s productivity and efficiency.
Results for the Client
- Efficient application and drying of paint coatings due to the booth’s vertical airflow (up to 200 air exchanges/hour).
- Stable painting (18–25°C) and drying (50–70°C) temperatures thanks to the diesel heat generator.
- High safety with automated control and a shutdown system when doors are opened.
- Production optimization through quick filter replacement and sealed sandwich panels.
