TWEKO implemented a painting station with extraction probes for LTL Group (Kyiv, Ukraine) in February 2013. The complex for the paint preparation laboratory provided comfortable conditions for operators while creating exhibition samples of paint coatings.
About the Client
LTL Group is a leading importer of high-quality paint materials, based in Kyiv. To equip a paint preparation laboratory (“kitchen”), the company turned to TWEKO with the need to create equipment ensuring comfortable and safe conditions for operators working with exhibition samples. Project Objectives
The project aimed to create conditions for operators in the paint preparation laboratory by setting up a painting station with two workstations and extraction probes. Key requirements included:
- Development of two painting booths with dry filtration for applying paint coatings to samples.
- Creation of two extraction probes for capturing and purifying paint vapors.
- Integration of equipment into a single system with one exhaust ventilation unit to save costs.
- Ensuring ease of operation (removable filters, rotating tables) and safety.
- Compliance with standards for working with paint materials in laboratory conditions.
TWEKO’s Solution: Painting Station with Extraction Probes
TWEKO, per the contract, designed and installed a turnkey painting station with dry filtration and two extraction probes for LTL Group’s laboratory. The complex was adapted to the conditions of the paint preparation facility. Key components of the solution:
- Painting Station with Dry Filtration. Two workstations in the form of aspiration cabinets made from a metal frame (profile pipes and angles), clad with steel sheets coated with impact-resistant paint. Each cabinet is equipped with a rotating table for convenient coating application and a removable filter cartridge for quick replacement of filter material.
- Extraction Probes. Two trapezoidal galvanized steel boxes for capturing, purifying, and exhausting paint vapors generated during mixing and stirring. The front of the probes is protected by a metal mesh to prevent large objects from entering.
- Ventilation System. Both painting booths and extraction probes are connected via exhaust ducts to a single line equipped with dampers for airflow regulation. The exhaust ventilation unit with an electric motor (capacity up to 10,000 m³/h) is located outside the facility, saving costs through a unified extraction system.
- Safety and Convenience. Metal mesh on probes, impact-resistant cabinet coating, and removable filters ensure safe and comfortable operator work. The system complies with laboratory paint material standards.
The package included project documentation, with installation and commissioning performed per the client’s technical specifications.
Project Execution
The request from LTL Group was received in October 2012. TWEKO analyzed the laboratory conditions, considering requirements for working with paint materials.
Design included developing a painting station with two workstations and extraction probes integrated into a single ventilation system. Component manufacturing (frames, probes, ducts) took place from November 2012 to January 2013.
- Fabrication of two painting booths with rotating tables and filter cartridges.
- Creation of two extraction probes from galvanized steel with metal mesh.
- Installation of a unified ventilation system with a 10,000 m³/h unit and dampers.
- Integration of equipment into the laboratory space, considering constraints.
Installation and commissioning were completed in February 2013. The equipment was put into operation after assembly and testing, ensuring compliance with the contract and technical specifications.
Results for the Client
- Comfortable conditions for operators due to effective paint vapor capture by extraction probes.
- Convenience in coating application thanks to rotating tables and removable filters.
- Cost savings through a single exhaust ventilation unit with a capacity of 10,000 m³/h.
- Safe operations ensured by metal mesh, impact-resistant coating, and compliance with standards.
- Optimized laboratory space due to compact equipment integration.
