In 2013, LLC “AZ MDF Ltd” approached TWEKO to ensure the quality application and drying of lacquer coating on furniture products. The TWEKO team designed and installed a painting and drying complex, consisting of a painting chamber and a drying chamber, each measuring 5×4×2.4 m, with the project completed in March 2013.
About the Client
LLC “AZ MDF Ltd” is a manufacturing company in Azerbaijan, located in Baku, specializing in the production of MDF (medium-density fiberboard) panels, particularly for the furniture industry. The company is known on the market for products sized 2440 mm × 1220 mm with thicknesses ranging from 8 to 18 mm, requiring high-quality surface coating.
Project Task
The goal was to ensure the process of applying and drying lacquer coating on furniture products. Key requirements included:
- Creating conditions for high-quality coating application in the painting chamber.
- Efficient drying of products in the drying chamber with consideration for energy resource savings.
- Adapting the complex to the company’s production needs.
Solution from TWEKO
TWEKO developed a painting and drying complex, consisting of a painting chamber and a drying chamber, integrated into a single cabin:
- Painting and Drying Complex. Each chamber has internal dimensions of 5×4×2.4 m. The complex is equipped with three gates: an entrance to the painting zone, a transition between zones, and an exit from the drying chamber. The gates are designed as double-leaf swing gates (2’000×2’000 mm) with inspection windows for entry/exit and sliding gates for the transition. The overall cabin, made of sandwich panels with basalt filler (50 mm thick), measures 9’500×4’500×2’200 mm, with the painting zone at 3’200×4’500×2’200 mm and the drying chamber at 6’250×4’000×2’000 mm. Air heating is powered by diesel fuel.
- Thermoventilation System. Thermoventilation cabinets (TVC) are located above the drying chamber, requiring a mounting platform with support trusses. The TVC for the painting chamber provides air supply, with exhaust handled by an extraction cabinet with a hydro screen (measuring 2’350×500×2’000 mm, positioned to the left of the entrance). The drying chamber operates with recirculation modes and partial air renewal (up to 20%) for fire safety, saving energy resources.
- Control Panel. The electronic control panel with automation systems includes pressure and temperature sensors, switches, a time counter, mode buttons (painting, drying, stop), time relays, and temperature regulators to control the process.
The complex is designed for installation on a pre-prepared foundation, with plans provided by the client.
Implementation Process
The request from LLC “AZ MDF Ltd” was received in 2013, reflecting the company’s need for a modern solution for applying and drying lacquer coating on furniture products. TWEKO began with a detailed analysis of the company’s production needs, considering the specifics of MDF panel manufacturing and surface treatment requirements. Based on this analysis, a custom painting and drying complex with ventilation was designed, comprising a painting chamber and a drying chamber, each with internal dimensions of 5×4×2.4 m. Special attention was given to adapting the ventilation systems, including a hydro screen extraction cabinet (measuring 2’350×500×2’000 mm) for efficient air exhaust in the painting zone, and recirculation modes in the drying chamber with partial air renewal (up to 20%) to save energy resources. Air heating was implemented using diesel fuel, aligning with the client’s technical capabilities. The complex, integrated into a single cabin measuring 9’500×4’500×2’200 mm with three gates (swing gates 2’000×2’000 mm for entry/exit and sliding gates for transition), was constructed using sandwich panels with basalt filler (50 mm thick). Thermoventilation cabinets (TVC) were installed above the drying chamber, supported by a mounting platform with trusses. The project was completed in March 2013, ensuring timely commissioning and compliance with the stated production requirements.
Results for the Client
- High-quality application and drying of lacquer coating on furniture products in chambers measuring 5×4×2.4 m.
- Energy resource savings due to air recirculation in the drying chamber.
- Reliable operation of the complex thanks to its adaptation to production specifics.
