Paint for vehicles can be:

  • Water based (acrylic). Acrylic dries well, is resistant to external influences, has a bright sheen and dries quickly, literally in an hour you can start polishing. Today it is the most popular material in auto chemical goods.
  • Non-aqueous (synthetic). For example, metallic type paint, which is applied in two layers from different components. First, nitro paint is sprayed with the desired shade and metal effect. Then a protective varnish is applied.

Special purpose paint. More often they are used in the process of tuning and restoration of cars, in airbrush works, and in non-standard decorative operations. These are aerosols and other non-standard formulations.

Car putty before car painting

Putty can also be included among the main working accessories of a car painter. It is applied before painting to level the surface, and after that, several additional procedures are carried out, finishing work with various means.

Types of putties:

  • On nitrocellulose. Helps eliminate rust and chips, cracks, scratches.
  • Polyester. Suitable for final sanding and small cracks.
  • Coarse-grained. Universal, elastic, with high adhesion. Get rid of deep dents. Contains chalk and metallic powder.
  • Acrylic based. The liquid composition treats large surfaces well, closes pores and holes. Applied with a sprayer.
  • With fiberglass. Perfectly restores damage, breakdowns, corrosion. Apply in a thick layer.
  • Fine-grained. Good finishing composition, used for repair and external gloss.
  • Putties are usually one-component, shrink well, are applied in a thin layer or thick, but for this it is better to use primers.
  • Primer and paste for automotive equipmentBefore painting, in most cases it is required to apply a primer on the putty layer. The primer will also eliminate a number of defects and protect the body from rust.

Primers are mainly of two types:

Adhesive – applied to plastic, used for plastic parts of the car. They guarantee a strong adhesion of the paintwork to the plastic.
Acrylic – finish the surface, applied before using enamel. Sufficiently versatile for all types of car paints.

Polishing paste is different in structure and purpose. You can use them to achieve a glossy or matte surface. For matting, coarse compositions are taken, and a shiny effect is given by a liquid, finely abrasive paste. The paste will eliminate all paint flaws, traces of oxidation, and add gloss, if you take the ugly option.
